This Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) approach is designed to harmonize the reproductive system by aligning treatments with the natural ovarian cycle. It focuses on strengthening the Kidneys, which are considered the foundation of reproductive health in TCM, as well as regulating Qi, Blood, and Yin-Yang balance to support fertility.
How This Therapy Works
This method follows the four key phases of the ovarian cycle:
Follicular Phase (Day 1–14)
The first half of the cycle is when follicles grow and estrogen levels rise.
TCM Approach: Nourish Kidney Yin, enrich Blood, and support follicular development.
Herbal Medicine: Herbs like Shu Di Huang (熟地黄, Rehmannia) and Gou Qi Zi (枸杞子, Goji Berry) may be used to nourish Yin and Blood.
Acupuncture: Points such as CV4 (Guanyuan) and SP6 (Sanyinjiao) promote Blood circulation and follicle growth.
Ovulation Phase (Around Day 14–16)
The mature follicle releases an egg, and estrogen peaks.
TCM Approach: Strengthen Kidney Yang and Liver Qi, promote ovulation, and ensure smooth Qi and Blood flow.
Herbal Medicine: Herbs like Bai Zhu (白术, Atractylodes) and Chai Hu (柴胡, Bupleurum) may be prescribed to regulate Liver Qi and support ovulation.
Acupuncture: Points such as ST36 (Zusanli) and GB34 (Yanglingquan) encourage ovulation and improve energy flow.
Luteal Phase (Day 16–28)
After ovulation, progesterone levels rise to support the uterine lining for implantation.
TCM Approach: Tonify Kidney Yang, support the Spleen, and enhance luteal phase function.
Herbal Medicine: Herbs such as Du Zhong (杜仲, Eucommia Bark) and Tu Si Zi (菟絲子, Cuscuta Seed) may be used to strengthen Kidney Yang and improve progesterone levels.
Acupuncture: Points such as BL23 (Shenshu) and GV4 (Mingmen) boost Yang energy and support implantation.
Corpus Luteum Regression (End of Luteal Phase, if No Pregnancy)
If fertilization does not occur, hormone levels drop, and menstruation begins.
TCM Approach: Ensure smooth shedding of the uterine lining, prevent stagnation, and prepare for the next cycle.
Herbal Medicine: Herbs like Dang Gui (當歸, Angelica Sinensis) and Chuan Xiong (川芎, Ligusticum) help move Qi and Blood, supporting a smooth and healthy menstrual flow.
Acupuncture: Points such as LV3 (Taichong) and SP10 (Xuehai) promote circulation and balance.
